"The American Dream"

make as much money as you can before you die. breed some dogs, sell them, love the money. they're sooo cute but so inbred they can barely breathe.

the queen of England dies while I work on this project. so inbred but she lives to be 96.

where will the dogs be in 96 years? what will the American dream look like then, for them or for me.

for a project on dreams, I was inspired to make scarf slides that mimic both the ruffled gussets of colonial America as well as more current fashion trends of 60s/70s, which are seeing a revival in the west

the image of the pug combined with bright colors reveals the silly and hideous nature of our country and the way different interpretations of our individual and collective “American Dreams” have affected our current culture and created a new version of the Americana aesthetic that was both adored and critiqued by artists such as Bruce Springsteen in the 20th century
